Catherine Torres
Catherine, a child of Polish immigrants, grew up on Long Island, New York. She can tell you the exact spot overlooking the cadet dormitory, Sijan Hall, where she stood alongside her older brother (class of 2007) and he suggested she try applying for the Air Force Academy. She majored in English, finding a sense of calm in reading literature amid the Academy stressors.

After graduating in May 2009, Catherine trained as an airfield operations officer. She married in 2012 and became frustrated with the lack of support from her assignments officer when seeking a joint spouse assignment, a normal occurrence for married officers. She began a new chapter of her life as a civilian in 2014.
A writer since childhood, Catherine embraced the opportunity to take pen to paper full-time. She specialized in content marketing for various clients and found her way as a staff writer for Bellingham Alive, a regional magazine in Washington State. She also worked directly under the editor for Pryme Mag, an online content website that specialized in articles for professional women. She has written for Universal Class, Motherly, EBSCO, SAPIENS, publications on Medium, and a handful of private clients including a financial advisor and wedding dress designer.

She has earned a Humanities MA and a Library and Information Science MA with an advanced Certification in Management for Information Professionals with an additional specialization in Misinformation. She homeschools her two children, one of whom has a rare genetic skin condition called ichthyosis, and has amassed more stamps in her passport than she ever dreamed she would.
